What is licensing?
From our blog: June 10, 2011

Licensing is the process of leasing the rights to a legally protected (trademarked or copyrighted) entity. (The Licensing Business Handbook, Karen Raugust)
So let me break this down, you retain the rights to your art, character and/or copy and the licensee (usually a manufacturer) partners with you to create products
featuring your brand. The Licensor receives payment in the form of royalties. Royalties are an agreed upon percentage of either retail or wholesale sales. If the
products sell well with consumers, everyone is happy. If they don’t, everyone is unhappy.
